The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide federal funding to Verdant Power, Inc. to conduct an integrated design process to develop, build, deploy and operate a TriFrame (TF) mounting structure with three Verdant Power Gen5 KHPS turbines at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC)-licensed RITE Project in the East River of New York City, NY.

The Verdant Power project is one of three proposed projects that were selected by DOE under the Funding Opportunity Announcement DE-FOA-0001310. Each of the three proposed projects would consist of three budget periods (BP). At this time, DOE is proposing to fund each of the three projects for initial intellectual research, design and modeling (Budget Period 1). At the end of BP 1 DOE would conduct a down-select process from which two of the three original projects would be chosen to move forward. Due to the down-select process, BP 2 and 3 tasks are not being reviewed at this time.
