The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide federal funding to Bat Conservation International (BCI) to determine the best placement and orientation of Ultrasonic Acoustic Deterrents (UADs) on wind turbines to ensure safety, compatibility and assess the functionality of a newly redesigned UAD, investigate the effectiveness of the UAD in reducing bat fatality, and directly compare the costs and benefits of UADs to operational minimization.
