DOE-SR owns a 115-kV electricity transmission grid that provides electrical power to facilities sitewide. The infrastructure and vegetation on the 115-kV rights-of-way (r/w's) are managed by Dominion Energy (formerly South Carolina Electric and Gas) under contract with DOE-SR. A Dominion Energy subcontractor will apply herbicide to the DOE-SR 115-kV grid during May-October 2019 for vegetation control. Herbicide application will be individual stem treatment using a ground crew equipped with backpack sprayers. Herbicide application will be conducted in consideration of the Special Herbicide Management Zones described in SRS Site Use Log No. 3443. Herbicides applied in wetlands must be approved for use in wetland or aquatic habitats.
