Instruments designated as Gas Chromatograph / Mass Spectrometers are used in the Analytical Development Section for the analysis of organic materials in solids, liquids, or gases. The instruments use helium carrier gas and thermal adsorption/desorption to separate analytes, and mass spectrometers to detect the analytes, once separated.
