999-2W Lab 156 is a laboratory used by the Defense Programs Technology Section for hydrogen related Research & Development activities in support of the Savannah River Site Tritium Facilities and other Department of Energy missions. There are several activities performed in this laboratory. Activities include:  (1) testing of palladium-silver diffusers and palladium membrane reactors to determine the performance characteristics and optimize the operating parameters; (2) testing of various getter materials and molecular sieve materials to determine the hydrogen and impurity absorption/desorption properties of these materials; (3) testing of Platinum-catalyzed molecular sieve materials to determine the hydrogen isotope exchange efficiency; (4) mixing gases to create gas mixtures evaluated during testing of materials, and (5) evaluation of equipment performance such as heaters. (6) evaluation of hydride material characteristics.
