Electrochemical techniques are being adapted to monitor microbial physiology and growth in-situ and in real time. Non-pathogenic microbial cultures will be evaluated during various stages of growth and these growth data will be correlated to parameters such as charge density and impedance. Studies will be conducted in liquid media with variations in nutritional supplementation. Flat disposable electrodes will be used during experiments.
