As described in more detail below, the Proposed Activity will improve the processing of material in Phase II of HB-Line in seven different ways: 1) optimization of oxalate, 2) replacement of colorimeters with spectrophotometers, 3) enhanced air dry capability, 4) replace the 1 can loading process with a 3 can loading process, 5) increase the safety limit for the acid feed to the column, 6) utilize an alternative Material Control and Accountability measurement method in addition to the existing calorimetry measurement method, and 7) administrative relaxation of the plutonium concentration limit.
