December 14, 2016Western Area Power Administration proposes to perform several measures addressing both security and maintenance issues at the Poudre Substation located in Larimer County, Colorado. A recent Western Area Power Administration inspection of the substation identified vegetation growing near the security fence, which was identified as both a fire hazard and physical security issue to the facility. In addition to the security issue, a group of rodents was identified to have moved into the perimeter just outside the substation fence line, CX: But within Western Area Power Administration property. The area the rodents are now occupying was historically graded and bermed to act as a secondary containment for the Spill Containment and Contingency Plan for the substation. The activities associated with the rodents presence include a severed irrigation sprinkler line and loss of landscaped lawn.
