H-Canyon is currently planning to start a new processing campaign to dissolve uranium metal ingots originating from off-site. The nearly pure uranium metal originates from irradiated sodium bonded metallic fuel that has been recovered by pyroprocessing. A representative sample of the bulk uranium metal has been sent to SRNL to perform flowsheet development work for the new campaign. The planned disposal route for the solutions generated from dissolving the metal will be via the SRNL HAD once the H-Canyon campaign begins.
