On October 17, 2013, Western Area Power Administration (Western) issued a CX to survey and inspect all areas along the Curecanti-Morrow Point 230-kilovolt Transmission line to conduct routine vegetation management and danger tree removal along the transmission line right-of-way. The original CX prohibited work crews from conducting the maintenance activities during the March 1 through July 31 general nesting season for the Gunnison sage-grouse. Western determined that allowing the work crews to begin within the general nesting season would have no effect on nesting activity for the Gunnison sage-grouse. Western also plans to have a biological monitor to conduct a nesting survey of the project area in advance of the work crews.
