Nonproliferation Technology Section (NTS) personnel operate a thermal ionization mass spectrometry (TIMS) system in 735-A, Room D-160. Room D-160 is a clean room and only ultra low levels of radioactive samples are allowed. The TIMS system is used to analyze plutonium and uranium in environmental samples that are spiked with NTS radioactive standards prepare in accordance to Manual L 15.14, Procedure CDRM-1, "Introduction, Control, and Disposal of Radioactive Materials in Low Level Analytical Facilities, 735-A."
