CX(s) Applied: B3.6
Date: 12/29/2011
Location(s): South Carolina
Offices(s): Savannah River Operations Office
Environmental BioTechnology Section (EBS) will evaluate the impact of a group of microorganisms on the physical properties of tar sands containing bitumen. The samples (total of approximately 40 Liters) originated from an active bitumen processing and mining facility in Canada. Testing on the soil will consist of adding organisms and non-hazardous aqueous growth substrates, nutrients, buffers, and surfactants to the material and analyzing the results.
