Stainless steel can bundles (outer, inner, and convenience cans) were opened and emptied of contents in Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). The empty cans have been shipped to Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) for analysis. The samples will be introduced into GB-34 in C-059 by the LaCalhene 7" bagport. The can bundle will be examined in GB-34 for external corrosion, sectioned at specific locations, and the samples will be transported to C-126 for sample preparations. Upon completion of the examination and sectioning all can waste will be removed from GB-34 and discarded as transuranic waste. If space is available associated waste (wipes, latex foam insert, cut-off saw blade pieces) will accompany the scrap can parts discard in the 10" DPTE.
