Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity would use $153,000 of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Department of Energy funding to purchase and install a 50 kilowatt wind turbine on the campus of Governors State University, which is located at One University Parkway, University Park, Illinois. The project will generate renewable energy for the campus and provide learning opportunities for the students. The wind turbine would be installed on a 120-foot monopole tower and would be 152 feet tall at the blade tip. The electricity generated by the wind turbine will be used for on-site power needs.
