Greenfield Community College, located in Greenfield, Massachusetts, proposes to use Department of Energy funding to design and install multiple geothermal wells to supplement the heating/cooling system needs for the main campus building which is currently under renovation and expansion. The existing chiller plant can provide 600 tons of cooling capacity and the design peak cooling load for the building is approximately 650 tons. This project would use a renewable energy source, geothermal, to supplement Greenfield Community College's cooling capacity.
