The 2016 AMERIND Risk/Native American Indian Housing Council (NAIHC) Annual Convention & Tradeshow on May 8–11, in Oahu, Hawaii, is fast approaching. Through focused breakout sessions and informative exhibits, attendees will explore new and innovative strategies for addressing a variety of challenges related to workplace safety, housing management, human resources, and much more.

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Indian Energy, along with DOE’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory, is partnering with the NAIHC to present several residential energy efficiency and renewable energy educational breakout sessions during the event that focus on:

  • Upgrading existing homes with energy-efficient solutions that reduce energy costs
  • Building new high-performance homes that are energy efficient, comfortable, and durable
  • Harnessing renewable resources by installing technologies, such as rooftop solar PV systems and solar water heaters in homes.

In addition, Office of Indian Energy Director Chris Deschene will speak during the opening general session. Attendees can also stop by the Office of Indian Energy’s booth to talk with DOE program staff and technical experts about the various resources available to help tribes maximize the value of their energy resources.
