Mr. Black currently serves as the Chief Advisor for Strategic Planning and Program Oversight

.  In this capacity he leads major projects and initiatives from the IG front office.  Prior to this role, Mr. Black served as Special Assistant to the IG leading the IG’s Strategic Assessment.  Also, Mr. Black served as acting Deputy Assistant IG for Audits, and as Division Director, supervising OIG audits and inspections at key Department locations throughout the Western US.

Mr. Black has received numerous awards for his work over his 29-year career in the DOE OIG, including three Awards for Excellence (Council of Inspectors General on Integrity & Efficiency) and numerous OIG awards including two Auditor of the Year awards.

Mr. Black completed the highly selective Senior Executive Service Candidate Development Program, where he served a detail assignment with the Department’s Office of Nuclear Energy.  Mr. Black holds professional designations as a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Internal Auditor.  Mr. black earned an MBA from Idaho State University, and a BS in Accounting from the University of Utah.
