DOE ordered Haier American Trading, L.L.C. to abide by the terms of the Compromise Agreement after finding Haier had manufactured and distributed in commerce in the U.S. multiple units of noncompliant central air conditioning heat pumps.  The Order adopted a Compromise Agreement, which reflected settlement terms between DOE and Haier.

On August 8, 2017, DOE issued a Notice of Noncompliance Determination to Haier America Trading, L.L.C. finding that central air conditioning heat pump basic model combination consisting of outdoor unit model HR18D2VAE and indoor unit model HB2400VD2M20 does not comply with applicable energy conservation standards based on DOE testing.  Haier was required to notify each person (or company) to whom Haier distributed the noncompliant products that the product does not meet Federal standards.  In addition, Haier provided DOE documents and records showing the number of units Haier distributed and to whom.
