DOE ordered Tithe Corporation (Tithe) to pay a $20,000 civil penalty after finding Tithe had failed to certify that certain models of commercial package air conditioners and heat pumps comply with the applicable energy conservation standards.
DOE regulations require a manufacturer (which includes importers) to submit reports certifying that each basic model of its products have been tested and meet the applicable standards.
