NETL Director Dr. Grace Bochenek today unveiled a contemporary new logo designed to reinforce the Laboratory’s brand as the nation’s preeminent fossil-energy science and engineering research center.

“Having completed our recent reorganization, the time is right to introduce a new symbol that reflects NETL’s revitalized mission,” Bochenek said. “Our new logo is the iconic image that signifies our commitment to discover, integrate and mature technology solutions to enhance the nation’s energy foundation and protect the environment for future generations. Our new look was thoughtfully designed to help us convey a 21st Century approach to addressing America’s energy challenges.”

The new logo maintains continuity with NETL’s branding while providing a clean, contemporary appeal. The symbol is a fresh but recognizable look for the U.S. Department of Energy’s only national lab dedicated to fossil energy research.

“Our enduring brand  is a bedrock for everything we do as an innovator of technological solutions to America’s energy challenges,” Bochenek said. “We believe our new logo will better convey what we do and its importance to our nation’s energy future. It will serve as a symbol of our commitment to driving innovation through cutting-edge research and technology development.”

“This logo is more than just a new design,” said DOE Assistant Secretary for Fossil Energy Chris Smith.  “It reflects who NETL is—a group of committed professionals pushing the edge of technology development.  And it’s a fitting symbol of one of the Nation’s premier research labs.”
