The Geothermal Technologies Office (GTO) gathered a community of talented researchers and scientists for an in-depth review of GTO-funded research projects that continue to push boundaries and contribute towards the nation’s clean energy future. The GTO Peer Review includes reviews and recommendations from teams of independent experts, providing guidance to Department of Energy (DOE) managers and staff, as well as the project performers and the broader research community.
In May 2022, GTO conducted its 2022 Peer Review, fully virtual for the first time ever. Sixty-one projects across five technology panels were presented over the course of six days. GTO recognizes the participation of the 70 independent professionals who provided high-quality evaluations, feedback, and comments during the peer review process. Peer review is a best practice for assessing highly technical, complex projects and programs, and is widely used by industry, government, and academia.
Data collection and in-depth analyses such as the peer review enable informed decision-making at the DOE level and provide insight into future RD&D initiatives across the GTO portfolio. The peer review also serves as a public archive of GTO’s projects and a record of progress for our stakeholders. Check out the 2022 GTO Peer Review here!
