On June 23–24, 2015, the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE’s) Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO) will host its eighth annual conference—Bioenergy 2015: Opportunities in a Changing Energy Landscape. Co-hosted with the Clean Energy Research and Education Foundation (CEREF), this year's conference will focus on opportunities and challenges in our current highly dynamic energy ecosystem.

Each year, approximately 600 participants attend the conference, including key stakeholders from the bioenergy industry, Congress, national laboratories, academia, and the financial community.

Attendees will discuss critical bioenergy issues such as the following:

  • Impact of changing oil prices
  • Vehicle/fuels co-optimization
  • Future of the Renewable Fuel Standard
  • Environmental benefits of biofuels
  • Innovative technologies and emerging pathways
  • U.S. manufacturing in a global marketplace

Attend Sustainable Transportation Day

Join us on the eve of Bioenergy 2015 for Sustainable Transportation Day, an afternoon on the grounds of the U.S. Department of Energy with the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy’s (EERE’s) Bioenergy Technologies Office, Fuel Cell Technologies Office, and Vehicle Technologies Office.

Mingle with federal staff, EERE leadership, and stakeholders from the public sector and private industry. Enjoy exhibits such as the Green Racing Simulator, the SuperTruck, a 3D printed Shelby Cobra car, and some of the world’s first soon-to-be available commercial fuel cell electric vehicles.

Bioenergy 2015 Call for Posters

BETO invites students, researchers, public and private organizations, and members of the general public to submit poster abstracts by Friday, May 15, 2015, for the Bioenergy 2015 Poster Session. 

Selected applicants will have their posters on display during the conference, including the conference breaks, so that they can meet with attendees and informally present their posters. These posters will also be on display and can be informally presented at the Bioenergy 2015 Poster Reception, held on Tuesday, June 23, 2015, 5:30 p.m.–7:30 p.m.

Bioenergy 2015 Hotel Room Block

A room block is available for conference attendees at two nearby hotels for the nights of June 22, 23, and 24, 2015: the Hampton Inn Washington-Downtown-Convention Center and the Cambria Suites Rooms are available to all attendees at the discounted government rate of $229 per night

The Hampton Inn is at 901 6th Street, NW, Washington, D.C. 20001. It is 0.2 miles from the Convention Center. To book your room at the Hampton Inn, please call 1-800-426-7866 and ask for the “B15 Conference Rate.” The cut-off date to book a room in the Hampton Inn room block is Tuesday, June 2, 2015.

The Cambria Suites is at 899 O St, NW, Washington, DC 20001. It is 0.5 miles from the Convention Center. To book a room at the Cambria Suites, guests should contact Jeffery Hariston by calling 1-202-552-5427. For after-hours reservation requests please call 202-299-1188. When calling to make a reservation, please reference “DOE Bioenergy Conference.” The cut-off date to book a room in the Cambria Suites room block is Friday, June 5, 2015.

Bioenergy meets “Shark Tank” at Bioenergy 2015

What does a bioenergy startup need to succeed? Find out on June 23 at Bioenergy 2015. Inspired by ABC’s television series “Shark Tank,” where entrepreneurs pitch their business plans to potential investors called “sharks,” BETO’s eighth annual conference will feature a special session called “The Pitch” where bioenergy startups pitch their innovative ideas to a panel of bioenergy experts.
