Meet Anagha Iyengar. She speaks five languages and leads an NNSA program responsible for developing new ways to reduce the risk of nuclear terrorism and anticipate new threats to global nuclear security.

The Savannah River Site (SRS) recently hosted its annual safety expo, featuring nearly 60 informational booths designed to educate and engage employees on a variety of topics that underpin the site’s safety culture, legacy and performance.

At an exercise held earlier this month in Houston, NNSA’s Office of Counterterrorism and Counterproliferation teamed with its federal, state, and local partners to practice the first steps to responding to a hypothetical act of nuclear terrorism.

Last month, Principal Deputy Administrator Frank Rose and Associate Principal Deputy Administrator James McConnell, visited organizations in Austria and partners in the United Kingdom to discuss ongoing joint efforts and explore new areas of cooperation.

Dr. Robert Floyd, leader of the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization, visited three NNSA sites where the United States showed support for the CTBT and for maintaining the stockpile without explosive testing.

A recently delivered Security Inspectors Operation Area, seen here being moved into the main production area in K Area, will allow remote inspections of employees working on the surplus plutonium disposition mission at the Savannah River Site.

NNSA employees Angelina Loverde and Dr. Lance Garrison have been chosen to participate in the Mansfield Fellowship Program.

Last month, NNSA conducted a refresher course and maintenance training in Yerevan, Armenia, to keep Armenian emergency response personnel prepared and up to date should they need to respond to a radiological incident.
