Lower Valley Transmission Project

For several decades, the Rocky Flats Environmental Technology Site (Site) operated as part of the Nation's nuclear weapons production complex. In 1989, however, the Department of Energy (DOE) ceased production at the Site and, by 1992, DOE began transitioning Rocky Flats to a cleanup mode. DOE's goal is to convert the Site to beneficial use in a manner that is safe, environmentally and socially responsible, physically secure, and economical. We initiated this audit to determine whether the Site was maximizing its reuse of excess facilities.ý
