Kangley-Echo Lake Transmission Line Project

BPA proposes to purchase a conservation easement on approximately 16 acres of the Canby Ferry parcel in Clackamas County, Oregon for the protection of wetland, riparian, and riverine habitats. This project is part of a multi-agency effort to protect Willamette River frontage and to connect existing Oregon State Park lands with recreational trails. Once the conservation easement is finalized, a management plan will be developed for the Canby Ferry parcel and adjacent parcels, including the Fish Eddy parcel and the Molalla State Park parcel. Future management actions on these lands will likely involve wildlife habitat and riparian area enhancement, restoration, and preservation activities.

Wildlife Mitigation Program

From 1952 to 1989, the Rocky Flats Environmental Technology Site (Rocky Flats) produced nuclear weapons components for the Department of Energy. In January 1992, the primary mission of the site changed from nuclear weapons production to site cleanup and closure. A prerequisite to closure is the removal of 9,800 kilograms of plutonium metals and oxides stored at the site. Rocky Flats estimates that these metals and oxides will be packaged into 1,900 containers which, as currently planned, will be shipped to the Department's Savannah River Site
