This standard describes an acceptable method to prepare, review, and approve implementation plans for DOE nuclear safety requirements. DOE requirements are identified in DOE Rules, Orders, Notices, Immediate Action Directives, and Manuals (hereinafter referred to as DOE requirements documents).

Tritium Safe Handling Practices was prepared as an information resource for personnel who perform tritium handling functions at DOE facilities.

The purpose of this Standard is to provide requirements, information, and guidance for the effective implementation of the DOE Training Accreditation Program established by DOE Order 5480.18B, “Nuclear Facility Training Accreditation Program.” Supersedes DOE-STD-0101T, TAP-1 and DOE-STD-0103T TAP-3

This guide is intended to assist facility maintenance management in defining the development, documentation, and implementation of the maintenance history program. It is expected that each DOE facility may use different approaches or methods than those defined in this guide.

This guide is intended to assist facility maintenance organizations in the review of existing methods and in the development of new methods for evaluating maintenance facilities, equipment, and tools. Properly established maintenance facilities (1) support As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) goals, (2) enhance user accessibility, and (3) encourage selection and use of the proper item for a safe, effective, first effort. It is expected that each DOE facility may use approaches or methods different from those defined in this guide.

This standard provides information on the purpose of safety and implementation guides (hereinafter referred to as guides) as well as guidance on the recommended style, format, and content to be used when developing guides.

This guidance is appropriate for high-hazard facilities expected to operate for an extended period. Since DOE facilities vary in hazard level and circumstances of operation, a graded approach to implementation should be adopted.

This guide is intended to assist facility maintenance operations in the review of existing and in developing new PMT guidelines to be performed following maintenance, which proves that the structures, systems or components (SSC) are operable as designed and confirms the following: (1) the original deficiency has been corrected, (2) no new deficiencies have been created, and (3) the equipment is ready to return to service.

This guide is intended to assist facility maintenance organizations in the review of existing methods and in the development of new methods for establishing a maintenance Seasonal Facility Preservation program.
