As part of the Energy Star Testing Pilot Program, DOE tested an Electrolux freezer and found that it exceeded allowable Energy Star energy-efficiency requirements. After notifying Electrolux of the matter and beginning Stage II testing (at the request of Electrolux), the company contacted the DOE on December 7, 2010 to notify the department that the freezer in question had a manufacturing flaw, and requested that it be dropped from the Energy Star program.
