August 26, 2024What is energy security? For DOE CESER, energy security is having a reliable and resilient supply of energy. CESER has the responsibility to strengthening the security and resilience of the U.S. energy sector and recognizes that one of the best ways to meet our mission is to spread our knowledge and understanding of energy security to our partners and stakeholders.
The CESER State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial (SLTT) Training Hub has recently released a first-of-its-kind interactive training for government officials who work regularly with energy security-related issues on the job. This course introduces foundational concepts in energy security and aims to be applicable across all kinds of government-level stakeholders, from governor’s energy offices and state energy offices to public utility commissions, emergency management offices, state legislators and staff, and local and tribal officials.
Participants in this module will learn how to understand the energy security landscape and how to advocate for a secure energy system that is resilient in the face of climate, physical and cyber threats, in their state.
This course will equip learners with knowledge on effective energy security planning; dive into methods for recognizing threats and hazards; and explore best practices for interaction with other organizations. In addition, the course leans on robust examples of program activities for successful energy security planning, all underpinned by the relevant authorities and policies. Participants with test their comprehension through periodic knowledge checks and receive a certificate of completion.
