Solar Energy Research Findings

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Solar Energy Technologies Office (SETO) funds competitive research and development projects in three technology areas: photovoltaics (PV), concentrating solar-thermal power (CSP), and systems integration with the goal of improving the affordability, reliability, and domestic benefit of solar technologies on the grid.

Each project funded by the office must provide a report of its findings upon the project’s completion. These reports benefit the greater scientific community by enabling the findings to inform other research happening across the country, both within and outside of the government. These reports are published by DOE’s Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI) and can be found here.

On OSTI’s website, users can search by report title, topic, author, digital object identifier, publication date, and several other criteria. There are also several criteria by which search results can be filtered. It is important to note that reports may not be immediately available upon completion of the project. Funding recipients can choose to protect their data, which delays the public release of the reports by up to five years.

You can also learn about SETO's active and inactive projects in the Solar Energy Research Database, which dates back to 2007.
