Employees with LM Support Partners praised for keeping operations running smoothly and efficiently
November 20, 2025Four Office of Legacy Management Support Partner administrative professionals — Michele Schmidt, Gayle Miller, Janice Maruniak, and Misty Arellano — were recently recognized by LM Director Dr. Carmelo Melendez for their outstanding contributions and support of LM’s mission. Spread across the country at LM’s three main offices, they are key in keeping daily operations running smoothly and efficiently.
Dr. Melendez shared his appreciation in a personal note to each one. “My sincere appreciation for your continued service and dedication to our mission. I am grateful to continue to work with you. Best wishes, Carmelo.”
Though much of their work happens quietly behind the scenes, their impact transcends the entire office — from coordinating meetings, managing schedules, travel and correspondence as well as handling communications and making sure teams have the resources they need to efficiently work. Their steady professionalism and attention to detail are fundamental to LM’s continued success.
Their recognition by Dr. Melendez resonated deeply with their federal colleagues who work alongside them every day.
“I’m so proud of and grateful for our entire admin team,” said Paul Kerl, LM’s office manager for the LM Field Support Center in Grand Junction, Colorado. “Sometimes we ask so much of them, but there isn’t a day we don’t appreciate their collective support to our sites, teams, programs and overall mission. They are so integrated and proactive, they often know what we need before we even ask for their help. The Director’s recognition this week exemplifies how broadly their tireless efforts are acknowledged and appreciated. Everyone in the Office of Legacy Management appreciates the superb support they provide for us day in and day out.”
Bob Walker, LM-11 Archives and Information Manager agreed. “The dedication and attentiveness of our LM administrative staff are instrumental in enhancing our mission capabilities. Their continuous efforts, often behind the scenes, are invaluable to the Federal staff.”
And LM-3 Education, Communication, History, and Outreach Supervisor David VonBehren added, “Our administrative staff are the backbone of LM. They connect everyone to the critical deadlines and details. Their work touches all areas and keeps the mission moving.”
Together, Michele, Gayle, Janice, and Misty embody One Team, One Mission with their teamwork and dedication to LM’s mission and its people, making success possible. Their recognition by leadership is a reflection of the appreciation felt across all LM.
