The Transmission Facilitation Program is a revolving fund program that will provide Federal support to overcome the financial hurdles in the development of large-scale new transmission lines and upgrading existing transmission as well as the connection of microgrids in select States and U.S. territories.

More Information:
To qualify, projects must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- New corridor: 1,000 MW or more
- Existing corridor: Upgrade or new line -- 500 MW or more
- Microgrid: Project connects an isolated microgrid to an existing transmission, transportation, or telecommunications infrastructure corridor located in Alaska, Hawaii, or a U.S. Territory
Applications for the first round of the Transmission Facilitation Program closed on February 1, 2023, and the review process is underway.
DOE plans to issue additional request for proposals (RFPs) moving forward. Future RFPs may include loan and public private partnership opportunities as well as capacity contracts, including opportunities for microgrids.
