Bruce Bordenick currently serves as a senior engineer and project manager at SC&A, Inc. He retired as Director of Naval Shipyard Operations of Naval Sea Systems Command in July 2022. He served as the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS & IMF) Executive Director of Radiological Controls from October 2015 to January 2022.
Bordenick served as the Deputy Director of Radiological Controls at PSNS & IMF. He was responsible for many of the department’s administrative functions and aspects of the radiological controls program in the Pacific Northwest. He qualified as Emergency Control Center director and acted as training coordinator for command staff.
Bordenick served in the PSNS & IMF Nuclear Production Department as Nuclear Assistant Project Superintendent (NAPS), Nuclear Operations Manager and Critical Nuclear Work Program Manager. As a NAPS, he led a team to complete a nuclear repair evolution at a prototype site. As Critical Nuclear Work Program Manager, he led a project a management group that planned and executed critical nuclear work and was responsible for mock-up training and the nuclear debrief program.
Bordenick was the head of the Radiological Monitoring Division at PSNS & IMF. He was responsible for all aspects of radiological monitoring performance including training, casualty preparedness drill performance, and maintaining high standards of performance and accountability. He was responsible for all aspects of organizational performance including organizational self-assessment, resolution of unplanned events, and resolution of personnel conduct and performance issues. He served as head of the Radiological Technical Branch in the Emergency Control Center.
Bordenick began his civil service career in 1989 at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in the Radiological Engineering Division, qualifying as a radiological controls project engineer. During his career, he served on board of directors of three non-profit organizations, including Leadership Kitsap, which is dedicated to developing community leaders.
Bordenick graduated from Oregon State University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. He earned a graduate certificate in Personal Financial Planning from City University in 2003. He is credentialed as a State of Washington Licensed Professional Chemical Engineer.
Bordenick serves on EMAB as a special government employee. He provides expert advice on environmental health, large project planning, risk assessment, and contracting and management.
