Corporate Reporting & Analysis

The Office of Environment, Health, Safety and Security (EHSS) manages a portfolio of corporate programs and reporting databases to enable analysis and improvement of DOE-wide environment, safety and health (ES&H) performance while performing the missions of DOE.  Safety performance indicators and trends are developed and analyzed utilizing DOE operational and occurrence data collected through various reporting mechanisms and provided through Internet-based tools and databases.  These EHSS-managed products provide Departmental leadership, line management, and stakeholders with timely information to gauge the success of Departmental safety program implementation and support corporate decision-making. and synthesizes operational information to support continuous ES&H improvement across the DOE complex.

Corporate Safety Performance Improvement Programs

EHSS maintains safety performance improvement programs that provide tools, training and direct mission support to the field.  These programs are intended to enable federal and contractor management to fulfill their ES&H responsibilities in performing mission execution and oversight functions.

Databases

The Department synthesizes operational information to support continuous environment, health, safety and security improvements. DOE’s corporate safety reporting and analysis programs and activities are established to manage a number of viable safety indicators applicable to most DOE contractor operations that provide Departmental leadership, line management, and stakeholders with timely information to gauge the success of Departmental safety program implementation. DOE operational and occurrence data are collected through various reporting mechanisms and provided through internet-based tools, one of which is databases.

Dashboards

In addition to databases, another internet-based tool implemented by DOE to capture operational and occurrence data is the use of dashboards. EHSS provides several dashboards including, Public Final Occurrence Reports; Computerized Accident Incident Reporting System (CAIRS) – Injury and Illness; and the Pilot Project: Nuclear Safety Information.
