The Renewable Energy Wildlife Institute and National Renewable Energy Laboratory are hosting a Technology and Innovation in Wind and Wildlife webinar series in January and February 2023, broken down by topic into four hour-long events:

  • Jan. 26, 2023, 3–4 p.m. ET, Virtual: The Future of Wind Energy Technology and Wildlife Considerations
  • Jan. 31, 2023, 3–4 p.m. ET, Virtual: Technology Acceptance Workshop Results: From the Bench to the Field
  • Feb. 9, 2023, 4–5 p.m. ET, Virtual: Technology Acceptance Workshop Results: Acceptance
  • Feb. 16, 2023, 2–3 p.m. ET, Virtual: Wind Wildlife Research Meeting Technology & Innovation Discussions Continued.

This Feb. 9, 2023, event will focus on technologies that monitor and minimize wildlife impacts and take at wind energy facilities face uncertain paths to acceptance. The meaning of acceptance can differ depending on the stakeholder, and it is important to use a common language across industry, regulatory agencies, and researchers. This webinar synthesizes the discussions that occurred at the Technology Acceptance Workshop, hosted by the Renewable Energy Wildlife Institute and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in the Spring of 2022. Lessons learned, outcomes from those discussions, and paths forward for wind energy and wildlife technologies will be explored.

Speakers include:

  • Cris Hein, National Renewable Energy Laboratory (Moderator)
  • Ben Cowan, Locke Lord LLP
  • Amanda Hale, Western EcoSystems Technology, Inc.
  • Amber Schorg, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
  • Stu Webster, American Clean Power Association.
