February 12, 2015The Energy Department’s Water Power Program is seeking feedback from the marine and hydrokinetic (MHK) industry, academia, research laboratories, government agencies, and other stakeholders regarding the Program’s activities and priorities in MHK. Feedback will inform the Program’s future strategies and priorities for advancing MHK technologies and accelerating MHK market development.
To advance the development and deployment of innovative MHK devices and systems, the Water Power Program has invested in a broad portfolio of technology and market acceleration research. Technology investments focus on driving innovation, compressing the development cycle, and demonstrating technical readiness and performance. Additionally, the Program works to ensure that a testing infrastructure is in place to accelerate MHK technology commercialization. The Program’s investments in market acceleration focus on reducing environmental uncertainties and other deployment barriers to MHK technology deployment and assessing the resource potential of MHK energy.
