Nearly 90% of the lithium-ion battery manufacturing capacity in the United States in 2016 was for the automotive sector, accounting for nearly 20% of global automotive lithium-ion battery capacity. China had 44% of the world’s automotive lithium-ion battery manufacturing capacity and 63% of all lithium-ion battery capacity.
