SunShot Subprogram: Soft Costs
Location: National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Golden, CO
SunShot Award Amount: $1,499,736

This project provides core analytical support that will enable the SunShot Initiative to carry out its activities more effectively and efficiently. Laboratory analysts will draw on multiple internal and external data sources, as well as management and staff, to develop timely information and analysis to the solar team. This project will continue the longstanding collaboration between the labs and SunShot, and it will leverage ongoing work to better serve the Energy Department’s needs.

Approach

The research team will help SunShot to carry out its reporting requirements, message its goals and accomplishments, and formulate strategy. It will also provide quick-turnaround research regarding current market developments and subject-matter experts who can review program material before it is released to the public.

Innovation

This project allows SunShot staff to better identify tangible activities that can be pursued to achieve the greatest potential for SunShot-level cost reductions and deployment targets. Although the timeframe for affecting change within the solar industry is subject to broader policy outcomes and market conditions, the impact of the proposed work on informed decision making will be immediate.
