The GW Solar Institute at the George Washington University is developing multimedia solar energy training materials that can be used to train a spectrum of diverse audiences. The resulting solar knowledge library serves as an invaluable resource for other STEP awardees who are directly engaging and training communities as diverse as real estate agents, financiers, and state regulators and policymakers.

The STEP funding program was announced in May 2016. Read the announcement.

Approach

The GW Solar Institute stores the resulting work products on its website. By collaborating with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and Planet Forward, both of whom are nationally recognized experts in solar education and multimedia content development, the video library assists with outreach to a variety of audiences.

Innovation

This project will facilitate the creation of video-based education modules that will target professionals who are not directly involved with solar energy but play a crucial role in financing, permitting, and infrastructure development. The videos will provide real estate agents, code officials, and state regulators with the knowledge and skills they need to incorporate solar into everyday business and governmental practices.
