The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Critical Minerals and Energy Innovation's (CMEI) relies on its Product Governance Team (PGT) to review and approve all publications, exhibits, logos, infographics and templates for CMEI communications products from technology offices, staff, laboratories, and contractors.
CMEI also maintains standards for any publications produced by the office or its tech offices.
PLEASE NOTE: If you need an exception to this guidance, have the federal project lead contact the CMEI Products and Branding Team.
Product Process and Approvals
The PGT does not review everyday graphic design work; if your designers use the new suite of CMEI templates on DOE's intranet, your deliverables do not need PGT approval.
Communication leads or support staff must ensure all U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Critical Minerals and Energy Innovation (CMEI) products have been reviewed appropriately, checking that it has approval from:
- The CMEI technology office subject-matter expert (SME) and director
- The CMEI pillar deputy assistant secretary (DAS) or chief of staff (who will forward to political leadership for approval as needed)
- The CMEI products and branding team to confirm:
- Correct use of CMEI identifier(s)
- Adherence to the CMEI branding guidance
- Inclusion of a DOE/CMEI publication number.
Next steps from any reviewer may include:
- Approval to move forward with your project.
- Recommendation to arrange a meeting to review your product's audience, purpose, format, and reason for needing a deliverable outside the CMEI templates.
Remember:
- CMEI does not allow the use of nongovernment logos, including private entities and nonprofits. You may reference entities within the content by name only.
