The 2024 Collegiate Wind Competition (CWC) marks Rice University’s first time competing in the CWC, and we, as members of the Rice Wind Energy team, are so excited! Our university participated in CWC 2023 as a learn-along team, and we take valuable lessons from that experience into the 2023–2024 school year.
We are a tight-knit but welcoming team with a passion for making our planet a cleaner, more livable place. We aim to raise awareness of renewable energy both on the Rice University campus and in our broader community. We have worked toward this goal through campuswide advertising campaigns for our team and through a booth at Rice’s Campus Sustainability Day.
In addition, we have hosted representatives from both GE Vernova and ConnectGen at team recruiting events on campus. Beyond campus, we plan to host an event with schools in the Houston area in the coming months. Through these efforts, we aim to increase support for renewable energy by making it something people associate with happiness and fun.
