June 4, 2015To provide analytic support of the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of the Building Technology Program (BTP) we developed a comprehensive, straightforward Microsoft Excel-based tool to provide an open and objective comparison of the hundreds of investment opportunities available to BTP. We identified over 770 energy efficiency measures through literature review and expert interviews each of which was supported by peer-reviewed publication, laboratory testing, in-situ (i.e., "pilot") testing, engineering-macroeconomic analysis (e.g., through the technical support documents of BTP's Equipment and Appliance Standards Program), building-energy use modeling, or verified savings through mass adoption (e.g., utility or other energy efficiency programs).
