Andrew P. Petry

Andrew Petry was approved as the Acting Deputy Chief Information Officer (DCIO) for Resource Management in September 2025.  In this capacity, he provides leadership and strategic oversight of human capital, administrative, facilities, financial, and acquisition management for Department of Energy's Information Technology (IT) operations.  Mr. Petry manages a total annual budget of $415M+ with a staff of 14 federal employees and 21 contractors.

With nearly 20 years of experience spanning federal agencies, the Department of War, private sector, and over a decade of active-duty military service in the United States Navy, Mr. Petry possesses a comprehensive understanding of driving enterprise transformation, optimizing resource management, and delivering advanced technological capabilities.  His career demonstrates a consistent record of achieving significant cost savings, including eliminating $500M in redundant IT spending. He has also delivered $340M in mechanical and engineering savings through enterprise process reengineering and governance improvements and streamlined a $931M ship engineering and modernization contract, improving on-time deliverables by 8%. His expertise extends to cultivating high-performance teams and guiding critical initiatives to mission success.

He holds a Master of Business Administration in Finance and Data Analytics from Kenan-Flagler Business School and a Bachelor of Arts and Science degree in History and English from the University of Pennsylvania.  Additionally, he is a certified Defense Acquisition Professional in Advanced Program Management (level III) and Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute (PMI).  Recently, he completed the ACT-IAC Partners Program.
