After much work and coordination with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, we are excited to share that the three parties recently signed the final Record of Decision (ROD) for the Environmental Management Disposal Facility (EMDF) project.

We know there is a high level of interest in this important project, and we remain committed to our promise of keeping the community informed about any new developments or details. That is why we at DOE’s Oak Ridge Office of Environmental Management are hosting an open house poster session on Thursday, December 8, 2022, from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. at the Scarboro Community Center. 

In addition to the information shared on these posters, we will also have top subject matter experts from our team on hand to discuss updates and personally answer any questions you may have.

The information shared during this event will focus on:

• Where DOE is in the planning process 
• Site preparation activities
• Information about the Field Demonstration Project
• Anticipated timeline for construction
• Future work enabled by EMDF
