ADR Lunchtime Series - The Conflict Resolution Bento: A Simple and Propulsive New ADR Tool

to

The Conflict Resolution Bento, like the bento box that it gets its name from, is both beautifully simple and elegant in its utility. It can foster stability and generate momentum in conflict management and dispute resolution processes all along the ADR spectrum. For example, in mediations it can be used as (1) a pre-mediation tool, (2) a reset when the mediation has broken
down, or (3) to drive the mediation process. This tool combines the principles of Bentoism, developed by Yancey Strickler (co-founder of Kickstarter), with Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs to help us understand why mediation can fail and how to keep it on track. By creating safety within the ADR process, application of this tool can help move parties from a focus on the "me" to a focus on the "us.” This presentation will also examine how the same tool can be used in team-building to create a more balanced future together.
