Johanna Koolemans Beynen
Johanna Koolemans Beynen is Strategic Engagement Analyst for the Arctic Energy Office, on detail from the National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR). She is a globally experienced energy project manager with a strong commitment to advancing reliable, resilient, and community-driven energy systems—particularly in remote and underserved regions. At NLR, she managed international energy and projects in Latin America, focusing on technical cooperation and stakeholder engagement to support energy transitions aligned with national and regional priorities.
Her earlier experience includes program management at the U.S. Energy Association, as well as research and technical collaboration roles in Mexico, including with top academic institutions like the Tecnológico de Monterrey and CIDE, where she contributed to policy dialogue on energy access and sustainability. She started her career in the U.S. and France, researching the energy and telecom sectors.
She holds a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University and a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), with additional graduate studies in economics at El Colegio de México.
