The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide funding to the City of Chattanooga through the Local Government Energy Program. The site for the proposed DOE funded activities is the James A. Henry School which closed in 1980. The building was renovated and used for commercial, and community uses during the 1990’s. The DOE funded activities would include replacing the following items for energy efficiency improvements: the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system, water heaters, interior lighting, and rehabilitating the existing front and rear vestibules.
