As part of the Building a Better Grid Initiative, DOE’s Grid Deployment Office is leading a National Transmission Planning Study (NTP) to identify transmission that will provide broad-scale, long-term benefits to electric customers, inform regional and interregional transmission planning processes, and identify interregional and national strategies to accelerate decarbonization while maintaining system reliability.

On August 1, 2023, from 1:00 – 2:30 pm ET, the Grid Deployment Office hosted a public webinar to highlight recent activities and developments of NTP analysis. This webinar built on the initial first round analysis presented at the October 22, 2022, webinar.

The goals of this webinar were to:

  • Detail the expanded suite of tools and resulting insights that can be expected.
  • Describe benefits that can be derived from these tools.
  • Describe what we have learned so far and how that is informing our continuing modeling efforts.

The next round of analysis will be completed this fall.
