The production, Safety & Security Begins with Me at Work, at Home and in the Community, merited the annual Communicator Award.

With over 6,000 entries received from across the U.S. and around the world, the Communicator Awards program is the largest and most competitive awards event honoring the creative excellence of top communications professionals in advertising, corporate communications and public relations.

The Distinction Award is presented for projects that exceed industry standards in quality and achievement.

“Our video, photography and media professionals continue, year-after-year, to produce effective, visual communications for our customer, the company and the Savannah River Site,” said Stuart MacVean, SRNS President & CEO. “We are pleased to accept this highly valued award, which symbolizes the quality of the team that earned it and the depth of our safety culture.”

MacVean noted that several community leaders played an integral part towards developing a production that portrays the importance of sharing and incorporating safe practices between local government, business, industry and SRS. “Safety is an obvious area where we all come out ahead when we work together,” he added.

The Communicator Awards are judged and overseen by AIVA, a 600-plus member organization of leading professionals from various visual arts disciplines dedicated to embracing progress and the evolving nature of traditional and interactive media. Current AIVA membership represents a "Who's Who" of acclaimed media, advertising and marketing firms including: Disney, Lockheed Martin, MTV Networks, Pitney Bowes, Yahoo! and many others.

Founded over two decades ago, AIVA recognizes cutting-edge ideas in marketing and communications, striving to honor work that transcends innovation and craft – work that made a lasting impact.

Winning entries for the Communicator Awards are selected based on commitment to fairness and merit-based achievement regardless of company size and project budget. This ensures each entry is afforded equal chance of winning an award. All entries are evaluated on distinction in creative work; judging is based purely on quality of craft. A category may have multiple winners or none at all.

“We are extremely proud to recognize the work received in the 25th Annual Communicator Awards. The class of entries we received this season embody the ever-evolving marketing and communications industry,” said Derek Howard, AIVA Director. “On behalf of the Academy, I’d like to applaud the entrants this season for their dedication to producing outstanding content as they continue to push the envelope of creativity.”

Dawn Haygood, SRNS Director Corporate Communications, noted that with the help of local officials and leaders from nearby communities, once again the SRNS Corporate Communications team has worked cohesively to produce and deliver a purposeful and important message. “They have created a visually intriguing story that explains why we at SRS always make safety a top priority at our place of work, in our homes and throughout the region,” she said.

The video was produced and directed by Brad Bohr, SRNS Communications & Media Services Department.  Check out the award-winning video: Safety & Security Begins with Me at Work, at Home and in the Community
