Officials broke ground Oct. 28 on the Oak Ridge Enhanced Technology and Training Center (ORETTC), a novel federal and state funded concept to provide first responder training and technology demonstrations.

The public will soon be able to get a sneak peek inside Y 12 National Security Complex’s Building 9731 – a historic Manhattan Project-era building – without ever stepping foot on site.

Earlier this year, NNSA's Office of Nuclear Material Integration, in cooperation with the Y-12 National Security Complex, completed the Zero Power Physics Reactor Depleted Uranium Recovery Project.

NNSA is responsible for removing and/or securing high-risk radioactive materials around the world that pose a potential threat. To support that mission, it developed mobile facilities to process and secure highly enriched uranium and plutonium.
NNSA announced its intention to extend the current contract for the management and operation of its Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas, and the Y-12 National Security Complex.

After taking a deep breath to appreciate the achievements of his team and consider his next steps, NNSA Production Office (NPO) Manager Geoffrey L. Beausoleil stepped out into retirement April 30.
