Watch live starting at 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 24.

The Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) recognizes scientists and engineers who, while early in their research careers, show exceptional potential for leadership at the frontiers of scientific knowledge. The PECASE Award was established in 1996 and is the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. government on outstanding scientists and engineers beginning their independent research careers. The awards are conferred annually at the White House following recommendations from participating agencies. Watch this year's award ceremony featuring Energy Department winners.
