In March 2021, Earl Omer joined the Office of Inspector General’s Senior Executive team, as the Assistant Inspector General for Audits.  In his role he is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and reporting for all audits conducted by the Office of Audits.

Mr. Omer began his Federal career in 2008 with the Department of Energy, Office of Inspector General as an auditor in the Denver office.  As an auditor he performed a wide range of audits, inspections, and assessments related to the Department’s missions including energy efficiency, environmental management, and nuclear energy.  In 2016, Mr. Omer was selected as the Director in the Office of Inspector General’s Office of Planning, Administration, and Quality Assurance within the Office of Audits and Inspections.  In this capacity, he was responsible for the development of policy and guidance, quality of audit and inspections issued, and budget management for the Office.  As of 2020, Mr. Omer was the Chief of Staff for the Office of Audits providing direct support to the Assistant Inspector General for Audits. Prior to his Federal service, Mr. Omer worked as a corporate internal auditor, an independent public accountant, and as an auditor with Ernst & Young, LLP.

Mr. Omer graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.  Mr. Omer is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of Colorado and a graduate of the Federal Executive Institute.
